Review on πŸ”† Torchstar Dimmable Downlight: Efficient Industrial Electrical with Extended Warranty by James Jenkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install; excellent light output; Good value for money!

I installed 25 of these lights in my basement; everything on dimmer switches and can say that I am very satisfied with this product. Before installing, I emailed a question to the company, who responded very quickly. I think it deserves the attention of a conscientious company. I read many reviews before purchasing these flashlights and was a bit hesitant to go with the 4000k type. For those who don't understand light color measurements, your standard soft white incandescent bulb is typically 2700K and your daylight bulb is 5000K. I don't like dark, dirty basements, but I also find that neon lighting is too harsh for regular home use. I find this 4000k very natural light which makes our basement room very comfortable. Before the remodel there were only seven standard pitcher lights in the basement so you can imagine the difference. These 100 watt equivalent models are very bright so I would recommend suitable dimmer switches. I keep my brightness around 60% for normal use, and when I want to enjoy a good movie I dim it down to the bare minimum (which is surprisingly low). Assembly was easy for me as a do-it-yourselfer. I've read a few complaints about the wires coming from the junction box being too short, but I didn't find it a problem as I just planned for the correct placement. What I consider a big bonus is that I could install them in an existing box (drywall) that encloses the main HVAC duct. They require little clearance and fit into spaces that would normally be prohibitively expensive. I used the hole cutter on my Dremel tool and found it very easy. * Practice on a pry bar first to find the right setting for the desired diameter. Also, I recommend using 3/8" plastic wire connectors (Romex) for the 1/2" knockouts in the junction box. My electrician friend recommended them to me and said he only uses them now (they are compliant). I agree; They are much easier to use than your standard Romex metal connectors! I have installed these lights in both drywall and false ceilings and I can say I am satisfied!
