This is a durable product and will definitely not break. The bristles are solid metal, I don't see any bending or breaking. But if I don't grab the max 1/2 inch thickness of the mane/tail at one time and hold it right over it every time I brush it, the clump of hair pulls out, even if there are no tangles it looks like would catch it. to make my TWH a little awkward, which is the first. It removes the burrs with some effort, but it's better than struggling with my fingers to get them out. It's good to get the clumps of dirt out of the mane. I'm glad I got this, if only to probably have it for life when the stubble breaks with every new one. But try not to use it often unless you want a mane and a tailless horse.
