My dog was ok with the noise level. I have a very full coated American Spaniel who freaks out about having his face or feet touched. I have been working on desensitizing him to noise and sensation in this areas (lots of treats involved). I bought this unit to experiment on my dog. Specifically I want him to accept the groomer (any groomer) handling the clipper on his body. So baby steps here. He accepted the clipper running over his body and head WITHOUT actually clipping, just the vibration and motion. I took a few swipes along his body ( no judgments please!) and he was accepting of the noise and vibration. So my objective is accustoming the dog to grooming equipment with noise factor. Last month it took three of us to hold and clip him in a very rough (very rough!) groom, no face, no feet done. This clipper I hope will be useful for reducing his anxiety. That and the Prozac substitute the vet ordered 😚. I did manage to reduce the hair on the inner ear flaps without major fuss, lots of treats, and that was HUGE! But I only received 5 combs. 6 mm is missing.
