I love this one so much I'm expecting a second one in black. I can't say anything about the durability, but the brand is good. This device is lightweight (important for me as I am disabled and can still move it). I basically stopped using the room when it was much colder than 40F. This little champion has already experienced the ability to maintain 68F in my tanning bed when the outside temperature was 31F. It might not quite cope with teenagers but we rarely get below 20F here so it's a big improvement! We also tested the unit in our converted garage (now a family room). Due to the ventilation and air conditioning control, we have to close the vents there, otherwise they will not be enough to heat the rest of the house. Leaving the door open to the rest of the house makes it bearable but cold. No longer! This is also perfect for this, so I ordered a second block in the best color combination. As for the heating issue of the block itself, the sides and top are cool enough that my cat likes to sleep on them while running. One of these had to replace a bulb after 2 years of almost continuous use (good night light in large rooms where the main switch is opposite). The cost is about $1 per bulb and about 5 minutes. Supports a sunny space (12ft x 13ft x 7ft high) at 70F at 32F (solid ceiling and 1 wall, one insulated wall adjoins the rest of the porch, 2 glass). My guess is that those who had trouble didn't follow the manufacturer's instructions to plug it directly into a three-prong outlet rather than through an extension cord.
