I bought other Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters as well.
I've bought other Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters that work, but you may have to unplug and replug them a few times before they work. I was a curmudgeon. The StarTech adapter works the first time, every time. If you want to add an additional monitor to your iMac using the Thunberbolt 2 connector, you need this adapter. I have many StarTech products and have never had a problem with them. So when I needed something that I knew would work, I bought StarTech.
