The main reason I got these bangs is because I have alopecia and want to cover my side burn area where I've lost hair. You definitely need to trim them since the bangs are rather long and thick (word of advice, do NOT use scissors! They will make the cut look too blunt and fake. Use a razor or sheering scissors instead). Once I trimmed the bangs and clipped them in they looked natural, but not my style. Bangs in general never really looked good on me. I ended up cutting these down the middle so that I could wear them as clip in extensions to help frame my face. That worked out really well, but be warned that you cannot curl these. I tried and it doesn't work. They are worth it for the price and if you want to see if bangs would be a good option for you. It's worth a try.
