I have an aquarium and a chlorinated water source. You can usually just leave the buckets open for a day and they'll evaporate, but I wanted to put a lid on them to prevent animals and people from chattering and spitting out of them, but don't leave the lid airtight to defeat that whole purpose. So I used a 2" hole saw (I think?) to cut a perfect sized hole in the lid of the bucket, inserted a grommet and secured with some aquarium silicone just because I know it's safe for fish and is good for fish . Now when filling new pails, I can slide the airstone and UV light/sterilizer in and out to put the lid on the rack, or even put the air lines and power cord in in the first place. The case feels like hard silicone. If I just lifted the lid the UV light and air stone would just fall through and get dragged along the bottom, but the sleeve is flexible enough to both pull up and get stuck. against each other in that eyelet hole, which makes things a lot easier. So if you're wondering if it's soft/flexible enough, I press a glass tube against a piece of hard plastic and put two (on purpose) in it every day and nothing's broken yet, the "flaps" even still retain their flatness, even a decently wide lip. I have 3 left and would definitely use them before buying new ones.
