For real? Data Storage

Really? What was supposed to be a simple upgrade to increase storage space on my Toshiba Smart TV just gave me an error message. Formatting failed, please use the recommended USB flash drive. What could be easier than inserting a flash drive? I'm tired of wasting time and money on crap that doesn't work, only $7 but it's still money out of my pocket and wasted time
