They are very easy to use. Simply insert the smaller end into the hole in your decoration and slide the decoration down to the curved, larger end. Then hang the smaller end on the tree. I didn't have to bend the ends to hold the embellishments in place. The bend present is enough to keep your decorations securely attached to the tree. My set was supposed to be silver and gold but there was a random set that turned out to be bronze/rust. I think these are things that someone who left a review on another shipper called rusty hooks. Mine aren't rusty, just a different color. It was only one set and I didn't use all the hooks so it didn't bother me.
