Emergency radios are, as the name suggests, intended for emergencies. Devices of this type rarely perform their tasks the way specialized devices do. The radio works great but certainly doesn't sound as good as a standalone AM/FM stereo. The weather radio works well but doesn't pick up as many stations as the portable VHF I use on my boat. The light is very bright but still lags behind some of the best LED flashlights. The USB charger works and I was able to charge my iPhone 6 with no problems, but I doubt it will charge them as fast as a good USB charger. The key to devices like this is to pack everything into one small package, and this device excels at that. You get a good flashlight, weather radio, local AM/FM radio and USB charger in one easy to store and carry unit. They are often stored until you really need them, and then the batteries usually die. This device has a couple of great advantages. It has a built-in rechargeable battery that can be charged via micro USB, hand crank or built-in solar power, and also supports regular AAA batteries. With all these features, it serves its intended purpose well and looks well made.
