I have used it with Samsung EVO 960 and iMac. In late 2015, the internal hard drive that came with the iMac was too slow, delivering 90/80 read/write speeds. I migrated my entire Mac OS Mojave to an external SSD by starting it as my primary boot drive, which offers excellent speed as shown in the screenshot with USB 3.0 and I believe it can reach 1000Mbps can if USB 3.1 Gen 2 is used. Although this is the difference between day and night. The case never gets hot, it just warms up a little, no fan or cooling required.
