It's half true that the thick case fits. The mount is more like an edge than a slide. The sides hold the phone in place, but I wouldn't say it's strong. The grip is just enough to hold your phone upright but flexible enough to be adjusted with one hand. The mount is very light, and while it feels flimsy, it holds the phone surprisingly well without tipping or sliding. The plastic is light so I can't confirm durability yet. I like the side arms that slide out under the weight of your phone. This allows my family to use the same mount even if we have both an iPhone and an Android. There is a gap in the bracket to allow you to connect the power cord to your phone. The main thing I want to warn about using a vent mount is in the winter when you may have your car heater on. Other than that, I'm happy with this mount so far. When not in use, it is very compact and easy to turn on and off.
