Review on πŸ’ͺ ANDYCINE Viper Magic Arm: Double Ball Heads Camera Rig for LCD Monitor, LED Lights & DSLR by Mike Calderon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exudes quality: camera mounts and clamps

This double ball head exudes quality, almost unnecessarily. It comes in a hard plastic case with foam inside to protect the hardware, although it's a solid double-ball metal head. The ball release button is very nice. The grip is actually held in place by a small hex screw on the other side, so there's no chance of accidentally loosening the grip too much and disassembling the device if you don't want to. The balls themselves have a small rubber ring in the groove to give them more friction and power when tightening the grip. The product comes with four additional rubber wheels in two colors and two Allen keys. The 1/4" screw mounts on both ends rotate with a twist of the thumb, making attaching cameras and lights very easy. The turning of the thumb is somehow dampened, which makes turning very comfortable. The balls themselves have a 1/4 rotation angle. The 4"-20 socket is opposite the screws, giving you another mounting option. The only downsides to this product are: A) It's hard not to mess with it all day. When I'm talking to people, I keep picking one of these up off my desk and spinning the spins b) the hard plastic case is good enough that I don't want to throw it away, but why do I need a soft metal case for a full metal ball head? Now, there I have two of these cases taking up space on my desk because I don't really have room for them, but I haven't thrown them away yet.

Pros
  • Robust and durable
Cons
  • Legacy model
