I was a little scared to buy this product because of the low price and lack of reviews. However, the brush has just arrived and I am totally thrilled. The hair of the brush is short (just over 3 cm from handle to tip) but thick and soft. Gives great foam quickly. After the initial brush prep (hot water and baby shampoo), the brush only shed 1-2 hairs when lathered and didn't have that nasty "wet pet smell". The handle is light, but doesn't look "cheap". I personally think it looks fantastic. As a starter brush or even as an addition to an extensive brush collection, this product is exceptional.
