Review on πŸ”Š Renewed Micca M-8S: Powerful 8 Inch 2-Way In-Wall Speaker for Immersive Audio Experience by Jasmine Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very important. They sound great in every way

They replaced a pair of Infinity floorstanding speakers in my library. Micca-s are known for their natural, pleasant sound. I also have the MB42-x 5" bookshelf models, they have the same natural, open sound. I wish there was a larger version of this, and here are these 8" in-wall speakers. Same natural, open sound, probably because they use the same silk dome tweeters and a similar crossover. The description doesn't explicitly say the crossover uses sable compensation, but it says "with compensation network" and looks like sable. Pretty good Spirit MKP caps, one improved version of the mb42x electrolytic caps.movable tweeters, more bass, more volume, better sensitivity, more power.I run them with a 70 watt DUAL stereo amplifier,I can turn the volume up to just over half.Plus the wall starts rattling on heavy bass passages It's actually loud enough for fusion, classical, jazz which I normally listen to My music sources are FLAC, SACD, DSD-H i-Res music via Delta Audio 192 card. I added some wood reinforcement strips to the drywall where the speakers are mounted. I can take them off again and adjust the wall cavity a bit (maybe some spacer or wood fittings, find out exactly the optimal air volume), maybe something could be done to make them sound louder. Of course, moving the bass to the subwoofer would make the wall cavity less important. They had to be played in, the highs were a bit harsh in the first few hours of listening. They sound very good for vocals.
