BAD FLOAT DESIGN! - UPDATE

After contacting Wayne they admitted that the pump I received was defective. Wayne immediately sent me a replacement that works perfectly. I'm only giving them 4 stars because of the inconvenience of having to remove and install a second pump because a faulty pump was sent. __________________________________________________________________________________________ The float is defective! Very, very annoyed! Bought this pump to replace an aging battery backed up Zoller. So here's the thing, the actual swimmer put that pole through, the first problem is that you can just pull the pole through the swimmer, it's hardly held from underneath meaning it can easily come loose in the right circumstances . Second issue: The rod that holds the float that attaches to the lever/switch has an L-shaped bend at the end to allow it to pass through the hole in the switch lever so it just hangs freely on the switch lever. Guess what happens when the pit fills with water to the point where the switch trips? The rod will simply slip out of the hole when the water level is high enough to trigger the switch, causing the float and rod to detach and float in the hole, rendering the pump useless. Both design issues can cause the pump to fail and then rely on a backup battery as the main pump. (See image, sump filled with water, rod slipped out of switch and float lying flat floating in filled sump - useless). BAD DESIGN! doesn't just slide up and down, it wobbles back and forth all over the place, side to side and can sway in almost any direction as the water rises potentially causing it to get stuck - again the potential to render it useless. I knew I had to stay with Zoller!
