This "straw bandage" is definitely not straw. It's a plastic material woven to look like "thatch," and instead of looking and feeling strawy, it's shiny and plasticky to the touch - like those cheap beige plastic grocery bags that some stores sell - the ones in our town Prohibited for environmental reasons are problems. Plastic reflects light (straw doesn't), so it shines. If that doesn't bother you, feel free to order. It is comfortable. I would come back but at the moment it seems like too much hassle. I'm not sure I'll ever wear it. I wouldn't order it if I knew what material it was made of.
