Review on TETON Sports Oasis Hydration Backpack - 2-Liter Water Bladder for Backpacking, Hiking, Running, Cycling, and Climbing by Drew Gengler

Great package for a great price!

I took this TETON Sports Oasis 1100 hydration pack to replace a bulkier standard pack and I am very happy with its performance, capacity and looks. As an archaeologist, I subject my equipment to very harsh conditions and conditions of use. I'm sure this pack will last for many seasons to come - it's already survived many wild rose and "accidental ground contact" falls unscathed! Not only is it durable, but it's also deceptively roomy. I've included a picture of everything I take with me on my daily hikes, and there's still room in the backpack for extra gear I only need occasionally, like a Marshalltown 4-inch spatula, file, small bottles of Water (Techno, Peroxide, and Calamine Lotion) and artifacts found. I think it could fit even more if the bladder was removed, but a hydration system is a must for me! After a few good washes the bladder doesn't have much aftertaste, the bite valve works well and the length of the hose is more than enough for my needs. The length of the tube is actually my only issue with this pack it might be too long and doesn't stay in the hydration pocket very well. Minor quibble I know. Also, the packaging isn't as light as it looks in the picture (at least as it says on looks like on my screen). It's more of a muted pumpkin seed color than a bright orange. I chose this color out of a desire for a high visibility backpack and was a bit disappointed. Color but it should still work well with other high visibility measures in situations where someone wants to be seen. enough for my frame. The backpack sits well on the back and the mesh padding allows for some airflow and comfort without body heat heating the water too much. quality, just a matter of comparison). Addendum: Although there is a kitten in the picture, it is not actually included in the list of items I carry with me every day. However, with the gear pictured, it would probably fit comfortably in a backpack! (Please do not put the cat in the backpack.)

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine
