It has enough space for dinner for two and a few supplies, but your girlfriend will have to carry a portable fire pit. For example, a fold-out rain jacket and a whistle for "caught with his pants down". Soft in thoughtful areas if you don't. I bought 2 of these for a trip to San Francisco and Sequoia/Kings Canyon. They were perfect for both of you. I've since bought 3 more (now I have one of each color) so the whole family has one. This is my second purchase. I bought one and had to get another one for my husband because we loved him so much. The only downside is the quality of the flash. I took this TETON Sports Oasis 1100 hydration pack to replace a bulkier standard pack and I am very happy with its performance, capacity and looks. I am rewriting my review of this product as my first impression was not very good and I have seen what many have complained about but here is the kicker. The biggest complaints about this product are the leaking water bladder, the strap isn't strong enough, the hose is difficult to drink from, and the zippers are flimsy and prone to breaking.
