Heart rate monitors don't last long

I got this as a gift and haven't used it in months because I don't understand what a fitness tracker can do. However, once I started using it, I quickly changed my mind about it and really liked it. The problem is that after less than a year it stopped working. I called Fitbit and we started troubleshooting but nothing worked. Although the Fitbit failed after less than a year of use, Fitbit did not honor the warranty because they said my account was activated after the 1 year warranty period expired. They gave me a code to get 25% off any new Fitbit product on their website which never worked. I couldn't justify paying for another wrist tracker, so I bought a Fitbit Zip through Revain for $1 more than the 25% discount code they offered me through the Fitbit website. Customer service is everything these days. Fitbit had to meet the warranty because the tracker broke within a year of actual use. Also, it's very frustrating to get a discount code that doesn't work. Fitbit Charge Pros: - Accurate step measurement - Comfortable wrist design - Backlit screen visible at night - Good software app Fitbit Charge Cons: - Stops working after less than a year of use. - Too expensive for something that doesn't last long. - The wrist clasp is difficult to engage with one hand.
