Review on Blulu Wooden Playing Organizer Organizing by Shawn Mcfee

Great idea, good quality/design

Almost cool, but. I am deducting one star for the quality of the final product and one star for a design issue I had. I would give 3.5 stars if it was possible. They are stained and varnished and the finish on one of them is ruined as if whoever applied the finish just did a poor job. $30 isn't cheap enough to expect such craftsmanship. What confuses me about the design is that the card slots are positioned exactly at 90 degrees to the horizontal. When you sit at the dining table and play a board game, the cards fade to shadow in the light above your head. I decided to put something small underneath to tilt the front a bit. When holding cards in your hands, don't hold them fully upright. The upper edges are not rounded at all and show signs of wear after only 3-4 uses. Hard corners are quite risky with a varnished wood product. That being said, I think it's great that there's a solid wood product that's as big as they are. They're perfect for games like Terraforming Mars, where you need to be able to view a number of cards at once, but it's also easy to change the order. I put the cards I want to use later in the game in the back rows and my next turn in front, in order of play. Any scrap goes to the side in the back corner. We actually bought a second set as guests came over to play and they were jealous they couldn't use them! Must be a good host for board games. I was pleased that the size and color matched and neither of the second sets had a poorly applied finish. Later I'll update the image of the cards upside down and tilted - this morning it's too bright to show the effect in my dining room right now.

  • Card games
Cons
  • A few little things
