They seem durable and I'm sure they will last, but I wouldn't buy them again and wouldn't recommend them. The flare on both sides is very wide and they are not very flexible so it took a long time to finally put them in place even though I ordered 4g when I have 2g. I keep my ears closed for about three years and I think two isn't enough as they will get so I just wanted casual wear to cover the holes. Eventually I forced them in and it cut both of my ears a little and it hurt. Of course I didn't have to do that, but I got in first and decided that I should try to keep them on the same level. They are also shiny and much brighter than pictured. They are also very long and the flared shape is more like an empty spool of thread than rounded. If you don't want to get taller I definitely don't recommend it and even if you do stretch it still doesn't seem like a good idea.
