I also like that it has an integrated trash can. I line it with a plastic bag and just throw the bag away and reposition as needed. Our dog stays in the back seat so I can't confirm the legroom situation, but you can position him fairly high on the back of the seat. So I'm guessing your feet will fit underneath it, it might just feel a bit in your spot in the small back seat.
