I live in Wisconsin and at 63 I'm an avid winter outdoor enthusiast and have a lot of experience with layering to keep warm. However, I didn't buy them to wear them as intended. I bought these to wear as leggings with a long top for walking the dog in cooler weather. I love looking for things like that at POCKETS. Well, it's cold out here right now and I put them on to try them out for the warmth's sake. I was skeptical as they are cotton. Surprise, they really work for this purpose! Very satisfied - now I can wear them for 3 seasons. And I love bags. If you are trying to decide on the size I would recommend to choose a smaller size. They have a lot of stretch. Very happy with the purchase!
