The best dehumidifier we've ever had!

So far I have to say that we are very impressed with Honeywell's 70 liter dryer with integrated pump. We found out we had a moisture problem at home a few years ago when condensation from a pipe literally melted part of the ceiling in our basement. After three years of using a noisy and ugly model from another brand, we started looking for a better solution (ie not buying anything just for emergencies). During our hunt, a work friend recommended a 70 liter Honeywell dryer with a built in pump. To be honest I didn't really understand why we needed a pump but when my husband (an engineer) saw the product on Revain he told me to order it right away as he thought it would solve all of our problems solve. The boy was right! We usually have a 24/7 dehumidifier during the summer months, one in the basement and one upstairs. After the ceiling incident, our AC guy advised never to let the humidity rise above 50% or it would probably happen again. Even with their professionally installed basement dehumidifier, our top floors typically stayed at 60% when we weren't using anything else, and the top (noisy) one struggled to maintain 47-50% humidity across our 2400 square feet. After a little over a day of installing the Honeywell 70 pint dehumidifier with built in pump, something happened that puzzled us - the dehumidifier only worked with a fan. At first we thought something was wrong until we checked the unit and our house thermostat - we were reading 39% humidity! This has literally never happened in the summer since we bought our house. All of this within 24 hours! After a week of running in our house, the air quality in our house is even better and I no longer need some of my allergy meds (I work from home so my allergies are basically setting in). It would not be an exaggeration to say that it fully met our expectations. I must say that another important plus is the built-in pump. Not having to constantly worry about emptying the bucket twice a day was a huge relief - the pump just dumps the water through a pipe into our downstairs sink. I mean it happened about 3-4 times the first day (before he lowered the humidity upstairs) and after that it went down to 2-3 times a day. It activates for less than 30 seconds, but I won't lie, the device is a bit noisy for that time. However, it compares to lugging around and throwing out an old bucket - and hoping it doesn't spill as you move it around the house - much better. The only "downside" is that I no longer have a bucket of water to water my garden flowers - dammit! Installing the drain line for the pump was the hardest part of the whole setup - literally screwing the hose onto the back. Empty the box and parts into the bucket, set it up and get going (5 minutes or less for everything). All in all, a Honeywell 70-liter dehumidifier with a built-in pump could be the best $350 we've ever spent on our home and our health. It's stylish, exceeds our expectations, and is fairly quiet compared to our old dehumidifier (which is impressive when we brought it into our two-story open hallway with echo issues). By turning off our other devices, we save time and money, and when we travel, we enjoy the peace of mind knowing that moisture is no longer a problem in our home!
