Review on πŸ’ Yookat Jewelers Ring Sizer Mandrel with Rubber Hammer & 27 Pcs Circle Models - Complete Jewelry Making Measuring Tool Kit by Kim Sanchez

Good for what it is

First of all: The hammer was junk. I taped it in place before even using it as the head seemed to hold up thanks to a combination of luck and unfulfilled dreams. The heads are good although mine was half unscrewed when I received the package. The shaft and joint are such a big pile of junk I'm afraid it will attract a possum if I leave it on. The mandrel is made of aluminum. Since I mainly work with softer metals, this didn't bother me. I made about two dozen rings of aluminum and copper wire on it, and there is no damage, although after tightening the wire I banged the rings like crazy to get the right size. There is a counter. Well, it's a gauge. There are rings. You are measured. They fit about where they should be on the mandrel, usually slightly larger than "true size" which works for me as I use them to hold the initial wrap in place when creating the ring. I would not recommend stretching a tight ring. with this. It SHOULD work with copper and precious metals, although in theory copper is slightly harder than base aluminum so scratches are likely. Basically: Ideal for wire and thin soft metal rings. Will be replacing soon as my jewelry work expands, but is good for the crafter or those who work primarily with wire. Just note that aluminum is 2.75 on the Mohs scale, which means the mandrel will be damaged by something much stronger and the mandrel will break before you do anything to the iron ring. Specialty materials like titanium are also trending, but I can't imagine anyone working with them looking for a cheap mandrel.

Pros
  • MEASURING RANGE: Metal ring measuring tool in US sizes 1-15 and EU sizes 41-76. Help you confirm the size before you buy the ring.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
