Great upgrade for my Uniden handheld scanner and the SMA connector means you get rid of the extra BNC adapter. I do a lot of scanner work in and out of the car, and the stock antenna just made the radio too bulky to carry around or wear on my belt. As others have said, this is an all-metal antenna with a professional finish, made in Japan by an electronics company. I can't speak to reception because I'm monitoring a P25 800mhz system in a town full of repeaters, so it's still clear.
