Revainrating 2 out of 5

Edit: Failed in less than a year.

Edit: I intend to include my original review with this update to show the full breadth of my experience with these headphones. However, I have to admit that these headphones are broken. The problem with the headphones was not their sound, but their design. The right ear cup started to loosen as if it hadn't been pressed against my head at all. I took them off to inspect and found that the place where the cup attaches to the headphone extension was very weak, like I bent it on purpose. Shortly thereafter, it completely fell into my hands. I suspect this was because I fell asleep on the right side in these headphones, but that only happened a couple of times and never lasted more than 20 minutes or so. I'd like to think a pair of headphones could handle it. I've never had this with any other headset I've had, even if I fell asleep with it on all night. I've lowered the rating to 2 stars because even if they break, some of the blame is definitely mine. Besides, if you never do anything like me, they'll probably serve you well. They're still very comfortable and still sound fantastic for the price, so don't let my only negative experience distract you from the positives of this headset. Here's my first review before they broke. I bought these to replace the original. I bought the Razer Krakens around 2015. They still worked great years later, but the faux leather was a complete mess and left green streaks in my hair when I wore them, so I figured it was time to buy a new pair. The originals are no longer for sale. , which is why I went with recent headphones sold in the same price range: $50-$60. I stumbled across these and was initially a bit concerned that the quality would be worse than what I had used before, but decided to give them a try anyway. So let's get down to the details. Sound quality: I'll be honest: They don't sound as good as the original Krakens. I've been using them for a few months now and I can safely say they're broken and all so I have to be honest and start there. If you've never used the original Krakens, you won't mind much. These headphones sound amazing, I can't lie about that. I'm not an audiophile so I can't give a detailed description but suffice it to say they have good dynamic range, they're loud, crisp and clear and their bass is solid. Once again they are fantastic but compared to the original Krakens I have to say they sound a little better. blank, for lack of a better term. There's probably software out there that lets you tweak and tweak the settings to your liking, but I wanted to talk specifically about the out-of-the-box experience for the 'average user's sake. Overall I would recommend them for the sound quality alone. Comfort: I've never been too annoyed by headphones, which people typically describe as uncomfortable, so take what I say with a grain of salt. (For the record, the only headphones I've ever used that I can't use due to discomfort are Apple Ear/AirPods.) They're average in comfort, in my opinion. They are definitely not uncomfortable. They're very light, which doesn't mean there's any noticeable weight on your head when you put them on or anything like that. They don't push too hard, they're adjustable, they stay in place very well (at least if you size them right for your head) and I have nothing to complain about here. I recommend them for comfort. Factor. Build Quality: As I said, they are lightweight. For some, this is a sign of quality. For others it is a sign of equity. When I first got my hands on them, they felt cheap compared to the original Krakens simply because they were so much lighter. But after using them with my Prejudices for a few months I have to say that they feel pretty good, at least similar to the original Krakens. The faux leather feels soft and durable, the headband feels flexible yet strong, and the hinge on the cups doesn't rattle or feel unintentional. They look good, they feel good and I'm inclined to think that these are really good headphones. I highly recommend them for the quality of materials, finish, etc. Mic Quality: This is a little hard to judge as I'm not someone who can hear my own voice. When I asked my friends how I sounded, they said I sound good. Nice, clear (at least if my internet allows it) and not static, distorted or anything like that. I do mention, however, that you have to make sure that the microphone is close enough to your mouth when speaking, even at maximum sensitivity, because if it moves a little away from my mouth, my friends will immediately notice it and complain. That. Overall good mic quality, but be careful of the distance to the mouth. Final Thoughts: This is a good headphone. They're not wireless, they're not Astros, they're not the best of the bunch by any means. But that doesn't mean they won't work for you. For a pair of headphones that will last, sound fantastic, and provide hours of gaming comfort, this is a great place to start. If you want to start cheaply, I would ask you to reconsider this decision. Sure, you could shell out $25 for a pair of headphones that would do most of the same things, but they probably won't be as good, nor are they a reputable brand, and for that matter, they're a lot less durable.. for one long time. very long. They last for many years (if not abused) and in my opinion are worth the money. TL; DR: These are good headphones and you should definitely buy them if you are looking for a set that will last you for a long time.
