We have them in bronze to protect our wooden dining table (covered with a tablecloth) and they have an attractive metal finish. They allow us to safely put hot pots or just a cup of hot coffee on the table. They look like large coasters, but when used for cold items in a damp environment, condensation will form on the surface underneath. Here in Arizona there is no such problem. We unreservedly recommend these silicone rubber beauties as coasters.
