Review on MAXSO 17oz Thermos Hot Food Container: Insulated Vacuum Stainless Steel Jar with Spoon for Hot & Cold Meals, Ideal for School, Office & Travel - Purple by Ann Coleman

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor insulation but airtight (updated 27th August - improved insulation)

I picked one up hoping to take it on a hike and decided to see how long it would isolate the food (plan for soup in the morning and a hot lunch 6 hours later when hiking). I did not preheat, just checked the total heat loss and leakage resistance. The starting temperature was 150F. After 3 hours the temperature was 115F. 13 hours later it was 79F. Since the bottle was warm on the outside at the beginning of the test, the rapid loss of heat did not surprise me, even my child noticed it. The bottle has a nice comfortable wide neck and appears to be airtight. But the inability to isolate the killer of the deal for me sends back. , refund my purchase and insist I try another can of food. Your customer service is top notch and you are one of the most responsive and attentive sellers I have ever encountered. without losing so much heat. The overall temp went from (again without preheating) 198F to 112F in 18.5 HOURS. In 5 hours he lost 37F and in 9 hours 40 minutes he lost 60F. Of course, preheating the jar helps, and most people will be searching in that jar for less than 7 hours, so the heat loss can be acceptable. I still feel like it loses more heat than I would like but I also feel the price and no leaks, this will work fine for most uses.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad but...
