Multipurpose

This is a physically well made cable with a built in converter. It doesn't quite match the description or the accompanying flyer, and those who leave the default settings will be disappointed. However, there are things it is good for. Good color rendering with the right setting.1. On the HDMI side, the EDID information (sent to the device that "projects" the video onto it) is identified as 1280 x 720 60Hz. There are a few other modes on the list, but that's native resolution. There is no point in forcing the projection device to use a higher resolution.2. From the UVC side - USB capture device: 2A) The device correctly sends the brightness, contrast and saturation settings - with this the color reproduction looks natural. 2B) The device's default capture resolution is set to 1920x1080, which is sub-optimal - the image is blurry and stretched, again this is not a native resolution and you should change it. 2C) There are 3 resolutions you'll want to use to capture images that don't look terrible: 2C1) 1280 x 720 60Hz MJPEG - There are ghosting and artifacts on hard edges/text, so anime/cartoons are not recommended. natural images (photographs) show less visible artifacts. 2C2) 720 x 576 25Hz YUV2 is a PAL resolution converted to progressive video. Can be recorded without artifacts - use this for example for SD footage in PAL - something like an old camcorder, old console like a Gamecube, VCR or EU OTA-STB. 2C3) 720 x 480 30Hz YUV2 is an NTSC resolution converted to progressive video. Can be captured without artifacts - use this for SD to NTSC footage for example - something like an old camcorder, old CCTV camera, VCR, your aging Nintendo WII (with HDMI adapter) or one of those fancy OTA converter.3) AudioV UVC The capture device has no sound - the included leaflet only tells you how to set up the UVC capture device in OBS - so you get no sound. When setting up the source, select the single audio device, and then select the single USB audio device that appears. 4) Encryption The EDID block indicates that the device can support encryption, but at a resolution for which it is capable, which is not required. For the price it is an ok device if you keep within the limits mentioned above.
