I had a situation where a new laptop only had an HDMI output. No old VGA. Sometimes when I'm doing PowerPoint presentations, the Public Works people who are my audience only have a monitor with VGA ports that I can connect my laptop to - no HDMI. This converter works well for taking that HDMI output from my laptop, splitting HDMI video to VGA video, and has a second output to receive HDMI audio if that's important to you (I don't need it), and split it up. to a 3.5mm RCA jack that can be connected to speakers or other hearing aids. I've been using it for 3 months now and it works perfectly. I had an expensive Lenovo Thunderbolt USB C hub with a VGA output. It cost $129 and caused intermittent VGA drop issues. None lost VGA signal with Morehead HDMI-VGA (USB AC Powered) Video and Audio Adapter.
