I was looking for a replacement for my previous stylus when I came across these Wacom Gen. 3 Bamboo Stylus Solo and was immediately blown away by the vibrant range of colors they offered. in and then the kicker, have my eyes deceived me? Does this stylus come with a "pen cap" style cap and does it have a clip? And it costs less than $20. Is this the product of my dreams or just an illusion? Turns out the answer lies somewhere in the middle, and here's why. The positives first, and we'll start with some of the points I just mentioned. As someone who carries pens and markers in my back pocket every day, when I shoved it into my pocket I was impressed with the quality and grip of the clip. If anything, the tension is a bit too tight out of the box, but it's nice to think that with prolonged use Wacom anticipated future wear and tear on this clip and it seems like it's going to last quite a while. Also, I love beautiful and brightly colored products and accessories so all six colors looked amazing and given the sheer gray and silver colors I chose the Green Bamboo Stylus Solo. I appreciate that this product comes with a replaceable tip, which was a feature on my previous stylus that I liked as a daily user. Finally, this tip was sufficiently responsive on both my Android phone and iPad Mini 2 for both navigation and basic note-taking. So now a few opinions that I think could make this product better. While the clip on the cap was fairly strong and durable, the actual cap isn't, for starters, as it attaches to the pen at both ends. The cap fit best when it was on the back (non-pointed) end of the pen when I was using it, for example, and even then it could slip off with a light touch of a hand or finger. It was the same when the cap covered the tip for storage, as that seal is made from what appears to be a standard rubber O-ring that didn't seem strong enough, at least not for my device. The stylus regularly fell out of the cap and into my pocket when stored for a day. Also, the green color was inconsistent on my device, meaning my cap was noticeably lighter in metallic green tint than the pen itself. If Wacom wanted to produce it that way, then of course that's their choice, but it wasn't for me, and it actually lowered my opinion of an otherwise pretty good quality product. Also is this a joke or even good marketing in 2015 to point out that your Gen 3 Bamboo Stylus Solo has spare nibs but can't we give you extra ones? But the Revain purchase page for this item happily links to two different 2-pack spring replacement Prime items ranging from $5 to $17 (link below). My final thoughts on this item is that it is not a bad product overall and I believe the main product can be kept and used well for a long time, especially if you plan to put it in a backpack, bag or purse for example., where the cap and clip are used are not necessarily used or wear out quickly. The stylus is surprisingly light for the solid build and materials, too light for me as I'm used to and having big enough hands to need a heavier and thicker stylus option. This stylus has design cues and tries to achieve what other manufacturers just can't and I applaud them for that.
