Review on AC Infinity MULTIFAN Control Receiver by Robert Layne

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quiet fan for my AV receiver that works great!

My AV receiver sits on the top shelf of a built-in wooden media cabinet. I don't have doors on my cabinet and any heat coming from my AV equipment needs to be vented through the front. My receiver sits on a top shelf with about 4 inches of clearance above the vents. However, in the past, heat was trapped between the top of the receiver and the top of the case. Although not anymore! I placed an AC Infinity MULTIFAN S2 on top of the receiver vents and it blows all the heat out of the front of the case. What I like about this fan is that (i) it's well made, (ii) it has insulated rubber feet to acoustically isolate it from the receiver, (iii) it has three fan speeds, (iv) its fan configuration, air after front versus top, and best of all (v) very quiet. On the "Low" setting, which is sufficient for my needs, the fan noise level is barely audible and inaudible throughout the room when all music is off. The fan is powered by USB or an optional power supply. To mine I added a compatible thermal switch that only activates the fan when the heat buildup exceeds the level I set. If the receiver cools down after switching off, the thermal switch turns off the fan. I strongly recommend a fan, power supply and thermal switch - link to switch is below: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078PY8L9F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
