Review on Edifier TWS5 True Wireless Earbuds - 32 Hr Battery, Mic, Charging Case - Black by Andrea Turnon

I took a chance and ordered this pair of true wireless headphones simply based on Edifier's reputation and specs as very rare reviews of these headphones could be found. Received it today and was completely blown away by the performance of these headphones. Very impressive sound quality and flawless Bluetooth connection. I currently have two other true wireless headphones, the Jabra Elite 65T and the updated Zolo Liberty, but I'm not entirely happy with their performance. The Jabra has good features, but the sound quality is so-so. However, my pair had an imbalance issue (the left earbud has a much lower volume) after about 6 months of use and I had to request a warranty replacement. Jabra support is very slow but after 2.5 months I got a replacement pair. I bought a refurbished Zolo Liberty when my Jabra 65T had an issue. The updated version of the Zolo Liberty has longer battery life and a much better fit and comfort than the Jabra 65T, but the sound quality is about the same with fewer features available (pass-through, app control, volume control, etc.). . I can say that I am a music lover as I own over $2000 worth of headphones including a quality DAC, amp and Hifiman HE-560. Both the Jabra 65T and the Zolo didn't live up to my mobile headphone standard as I was using the Audio Technica CKR-10 as my mobile headphone. This pair of Edifier TWS5 headphones offer much better sound quality straight out of the box compared to the Jabra Elite. 65T and an updated version of the Zolo Liberty. Clean and clear sound with good details. The bass doesn't boom and isn't heavy, but deep enough and of good quality. These headphones also surprise me with good sound depth and imaging that I couldn't hear from the other two TWS headphones I own. In terms of connectivity, Bluetooth pairing was instantaneous. Every time I take them out of the box they connect flawlessly to my phone. I see these headphones use aptx with my phone (Pixel 2XL) so that matches the display too. Also, I can use one earphone at a time with no issues. Also, I have no problem using it in 2 rooms (maybe 6-7 meters) without damaging it. Fits great. The headphones come with 3 pairs of ear tips in sizes S/M/L. The default set is small. I change them to size M and they fit me perfectly. After inserting them into the ear canal, they need to be rotated slightly to fix them. I easily listen for about 1 hour without any discomfort or fatigue. In terms of controls, these headphones use touch controls. This is my first time using TWS earbuds with fixed controls and at first I didn't feel that my touch could trigger the functions (stop/start/next song) properly. However, the touch controls are quite responsive, which really surprises me. In terms of call quality, I currently only use it for short calls with my wife, but she said the call quality was a bit subdued. Personally, I rarely use TWS earbuds for phone calls as I mostly use them to listen to music during work hours, so this isn't a problem for me. But if call quality is really important to you, this might not be the best choice. In summary, the Edifier TWS5 has very impressive sound quality and good connectivity. I've never heard the top rated TWS headphones like the Sennheiser True Wireless headphones or the latest Sony WF-1000X M3 to compare, but I can say that these headphones have very good sound quality, at least compared to the high rated Jabra Elite 65T. without doubt. At just $79.99, this set is a no-brainer if sound quality is a key priority for you. Pros: Excellent sound quality, premium Qualcomm QCC3026 chip with great connectivity. Comfortable fit. Up to 8 hours of battery life and up to 32 hours with case (depending on specification). Touch control (no need to stick the headphones further into the ear canal like others). Disadvantages: communication quality. There is no touch volume control. There is no surround sound pass-through feature. There is no app control.
