💯 Ultimate Kohler 1131482 Ultraglide Complete Assembly: Unbeatable Quality and Performance Review

This is an easy replacement for a Kohler faucet valve that had a cartridge that had frozen due to limescale build up. I tried CLR to break down calcium but it didn't work in the end. This replacement faucet was easy to install and matched the old faucet perfectly.

Nice modernization of a 30 year old Kohler bath faucet. The new mounting hardware made the faucet a bit difficult to stabilize during installation (easier to have someone hold the faucet while you tighten it from underneath), but once installed it runs smoother than the original. The kit contains everything you need to replace the old valve.

This replacement kit includes a hose that's so cheap that it will kink with normal use. Unlike the original hose, which was flexible but stiff enough to flex, the new hose is rubbish. More money on parts and I had to buy a third party hose to complete the installation. It's time to look to other manufacturers for the next facelift. What happened to the quality at Kohler?

Replacement valve assembly, perfect fit. Couldn't find it at Ace Hardware or Home Depot. The outside diameter was 1 and 1/8 inch. It has a significantly improved attachment mechanism on the underside of the sink. It was a bear pulling out an old valve assembly. I think the increase in flow noise mentioned in other reviews is due to the smaller diameter plumbing hose that was included. Actually not a big problem.

For some reason, Kohler decided to make the unit with a built-in, non-removable faucet valve. Often the valve stops turning due to hard water. Rather than allow for a simple valve swap, which I believe can be purchased for less than $10, Kohler priced this entire kit at $37+. I felt guilty for throwing away the whole piece of copper because of the stupid design. Next time I buy new faucets I will definitely not buy a Kohler.

The cold water knob on one of our Kohler faucets (about 15 years old) was getting harder and harder to turn. The valve was to blame. I ordered a new valve from Revain but couldn't get the old valve out of the valve body even after soaking the valve + valve body in liquid wrench, putting it in a vise and using a blowtorch. As other Kohlers have noted this Product switched to low consumption, thanks to a few people. Old cartridges will not fit, so if they get stuck and leak you will need to replace the entire assembly with the Ultraglide series. That's about 1.2 GPM, up from 2.2 GPM on the previous generation. Also they are noisy when you use them not sure if they are tight holes or valves in a plastic case which is surprising maybe Kohler doesn't want to be a quality product in which case I avoid them in future…

I had a valve that was broken and stuck all the way into the assembly. My first valve was a Kohler GP77006-RP before the Ultraglide series. Since I couldn't get it off I had to replace the entire assembly with this Ultraglide series. I wish the instructions were a little better but I was able to replace my original valve assembly with this item which fits my original handle and spout fittings. just like my original. I've ordered both cold and hot 1131482 / 1131481 Complete set of Ultraglide valves. With one of the kits I only received the mounting material, the most important part - the valve body and the valve - was missing. Replaced the old GP77006-RP(C) cold water cartridge with a Forte sink kit. I am very grateful to the posters for pointing out that the Kohler 59425 wrench is required if you are replacing any of the older model cartridges, which saved me a few days of shipping to complete this repair.
