Review on leakSMART Water Leak Detection Starter Kit: Automatic Shutoff Valve, Leak Sensor, and Smart Hub Included by Dorian Bharadwaj

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The valve has a gear problem; Retro kit

I had a 3/4" LeakSmart valve (2nd generation) installed by a licensed plumber ($485 plus power for an extra outlet). It was easy to hook up the valve to mine Samsung Smartthings hub and various water sensors to connect, and the valve shut off immediately when the sensors detected water. However, on my next visit to the lake house after the initial installation, the valve no longer opened, either manually via the buttons or via the app Lights alternately flash instead, although the controller is securely fastened. Following the instructions, I removed four screws and manually rotated the valve gear to the open position. Even after carefully reassembling the valve, the controller's small cog appears to work. does not engage the quarter round valve mechanism I have contacted LeakSmart support via phone & email nd email contacted but no reply. If I get a satisfactory solution I will update this review. It's temporary, I suggest you stay away. A great idea; poor performance; zero support. Update: The manufacturer has finally provided an upgrade kit that appears to have fixed the issue. It's embarrassing that they sent the valve with a known problem (and already a solution). What if I hadn't discovered the defect before the valve attempted to open in emergency mode?
