Not good for home sensors and alarms

I bought it because the price was lower than other tests but what a failure. I performed this test exactly as instructed and got no results from the test. what a waste of time and money.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • So far so good

Confusing instructions. No results

The chart says FILL THE BABY. The written instruction says: JUST A LITTLE BIT. First I poured too much water, quickly drained and poured the right amount. The test did not work - no lines appeared on the test strip. Bought on Wirecutter's recommendation; 20 dollars spent. I have not used any of these pregnancy tests but I hope they are clearer than this one.

  • cool product

Well at least our water has lead below 0.15ppm

I bought this because our apartment has very old pipes and there were some issues with things that weren't serviced or not in line with the regulations were brought in, so I was suspicious that we had some lead pipes. They were easy enough to use and showed that we were at least below EPA lead levels. I really wish there was a DIY test that would show every lead level as it is a binary test that only shows if the lead level is above 0.015ppm, the EPA standard. However, it does bring some peace.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Peace of Mind: Safety and Security

Ordered because Denver supplies jugs of filtered water to guide potentially exposed people across the city, which scared us. We still use a filter pitcher for drinking water (mostly to improve the taste of water) but this made us nervous about the lead content in the water when we brush our teeth or drink from the bathroom and also feed our pets water under the tap. lead to our house, making us feel a lot better. We will continue to use filter pitchers, but don't worry about brushing your teeth

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • weak

Works perfectly ! - Safety

Instructions are clear. There is a NOT SO CLEAR step, instructions on the amount of liquid going into the "sample vial". The instructions state to add one (1) "dropper dropper” to the "sample tube”. Easy enough until you see the attached photo after you add one (1) "dropper" and you only have about 1/4" of liquid in the "sample tube" and the "sample tube" is about 2 inches will be high, so the photo shows the "sample tube" is nearly 1/2 full, however, one (1) "dropper" is enough to run the test

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Unreliable

Cannot use pipette

I have found that it is not possible to obtain a consistent amount of test sample with the pipette provided and there is no way to measure if I actually did it. So the result I got doesn't make me confident. Plus, I later found it for significantly less than the $20 I paid for a test that didn't even give the results I was sure of. encounter a problem in the middle of a test and need to buy another test if you want to try again. I would suggest they provide a regular pipette which is much…

Conflicting instructions, no results

I bought this kit on Wirecutter's recommendation and am disappointed in both this product and Wirecutter for showing it. The written instructions for the kit clearly state that only 1 pipette of water should be poured into the vial. The supplied pipette only holds a few drops of water. A full water bottle can be clearly seen in several images in the instructions, which requires repeated use of the pipette. So do you follow written instructions or illustrated instructions? They are…

Follow written instructions, NO pictures

I live in a 116 year old house. Although there were many updates, I needed to know if the plumbing to my house contained lead contamination. This test was recommended by Good Housekeeping so I decided to give it a try. According to this test, my lines are lead-free. However, I almost failed the test because I didn't know how much water to put in the bottle. ALL the photos show the vial filled with water, but the instructions say to use only a water-filled dropper. i am discouraged I signed up…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Some problems

VERY BAD INSTRUCTIONS

Why would anyone sell a product where the 'how to' diagrams/pictures so clearly contradict the written instructions? The graphs show 3 frames with a test tube 1/2-3/4 full of water sample. and sit in the water sample with the test strip almost completely immersed - outside of all reading marks. This is despite the fact that a full pipette holds less than 1/4 inch of water sample, covering only a tiny length of the test strip — MUCH less than shown in multiple images — and filling roughly 1/10th

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine
