Review on SINGER Intelligent Steam Press 26 Grey by Kenneth Rich

Revainrating 3 out of 5

But it is NOT 26 inches wide!

I bought this product to speed up bag making. for making belts quite often, and it will compress all at once, right? NO. The pressing surface is only 24.75 inches, so the description is a blatant lie. Otherwise I'm happy, but I feel cheated. I would certainly try another brand if the truth was known. In any case, if you don't care if it really is 26 inches on the advertised line at the longest point of the device, get this machine. Just note that this line should read 24.75 inches instead of 26 inches, although the manual uses different names for the control buttons than they're actually labeled (:/), they were easy enough to use; But it was pretty silly that you can only use the controls when they're at an oblique angle from your face when using it on a table or counter, since setting/reading functions requires the device to be open. another design flaw if you ask me. Maybe they expect us to be 6ft 2in or use it while it's on the ground or what? Yes, the tedious work of bending over a steam press was never considered recreation, and I thought that in modern times we've moved away from those inconveniences. It would be possible to make the display at 90˚ to the plate, it would be better and would accommodate all heights. I also don't really like how the timing and steam are supposed to be activated. If the lid needs to be 3 inches above the steam towel, there should be feedback when you are at the correct distance and not. Don't be careful, you will get steam whether you like it or not. The instructions state that the plate will turn off after 10 seconds and that you should never leave the plate on the fabric for more than 10 seconds if you don't do this. I don't want to risk damaging the fabric. However, in the middle of my 10 second interval, there were weird beeps. It finally became clear that the beep indicated that your 10 seconds had expired. Wife - couldn't see the display being on when I tried to press subsequent keys. This obviously messed up the syncing on the device so I couldn't figure out what the beep was supposed to do at first as it didn't match my lift and adjust plates. The manual talks about the beep but not very much about the display. Basically all you have to do is wait until all the lights are on. The WAIT indicator was sometimes still active when the READY indicator activated, so I have no idea what it is. I have not tried the auto steam feature as I have not used it for large cuts where this feature would be desirable. I will probably keep this machine as I plan to use it heavily in the next 2 days and it's not my style to give anything back after using it but it's not up to date and a clunky user interface, which would prevent me from recommending it same price or more expensive than other brands that have good reviews and can work well and do not contain misleading information in the product title/description.

Pros
  • understandable even for old people
Cons
  • too stupid
