This scale is designed to stay in one place and not move. If you pick it up and move it, it usually shows 3-5 pounds of light. You have to step on it to recalibrate, and it's not instantaneous. It will take a few minutes to be ready again. If you step on the scale you will get a reading and if you step on it again to confirm you will not get another reading. It runs through a program that flashes your previous weights. It takes about a minute to go through the cycle before shutting off. If you step on it before it's done, it won't add any weight to you. You have to wait for it to turn off, then you can step on it again. This is a long process.
