This scale is designed to stay in one place and not move. If you pick it up and move it, it usually shows 3-5 pounds of light. You have to step on it to recalibrate, and it's not instantaneous. This thing sucks. I guess there must be a lot of fake reviews out there. I've owned it for a few years and it's literally doing no good. You can step on it once and it reads, say, 150 pounds. The scale is not entirely accurate. I watch my figure, weigh myself on the scales and weigh myself regularly. EatSmart's customer service is rated 5 stars "Excellent". Unfortunately, the original scale AND the replacement scale did not work properly. Both units will fluctuate rapidly around "ones" and "tenths" on the digital display without any fixation at a given weight until the display goes blank.
