It was so easy to put together and once assembled it was strong enough to hold DVDs and Blu-rays, which is basically what it was designed for. Please note that the depth given in the product image refers to the base plate and not the depth of the shelves. They are only slightly deeper than the width of the DVD case. The base intentionally protrudes further than the rest of the shelf and that purpose is to prevent it from tipping forward when you load the shelves with whatever you put on them. This is not a very large rack. It's perfect for the space I needed it for.
