My husband and I installed this fan in a bedroom where there used to be only a light, no fan. Assisted in installing the fan, so we were relieved to find that we didn't need any additional assistance. Fan Installation: Having little experience with this type of DIY, we followed the instructions carefully and found them easy to read and understand. All mounting hardware was included, as well as two different length extensions, one short and short for mounting close to the ceiling and the other to extend the fan down a foot or more. Longer extensions can be ordered. We chose to install ours near the ceiling. All devices were packed in plastic bags with individual numbers. The instructions referenced these packets with their numbers as they progressed, saving time and preventing migraines. Everything you need was included, even the mounting plate. Wall Switch Installation: We pulled out the wall light switch and replaced it with a fan control switch. Again, everything you need was included and the directions are fully explained. The programmable control switch has a variety of settings and includes fan speed and light intensity combinations. That's where I like it best and I'll leave it there, but of course my husband likes to fiddle with the controls. This fan does not include a remote control. The fan is almost silent and does not hum at all. It fully ventilates our master bedroom, which measures approximately 12ft by 18ft. If you follow the instructions carefully and use your common sense, you'll find that installation is relatively quick and easy.
