All stars after washing as I didn't pay much attention or try to use it before washing it in my own pleasant scents. Boarding was easy with 3 people working together. The zipper is smooth and the added touches of Velcro and elastic closure at the end add to the confidence in the protection this case offers. I use it without any other mattress filling and slept well on it one day and slept well. I felt some warmth, but not unbearable, and the heat dissipated quickly with the throw. This allows you to realize the mattress' own qualities without being bulky or too soft. It's quiet and doesn't press. So far I'm happy with how it washed off and how it felt in the one night I used it. I'll post more if anything changes drastically from that first night of use. I recommend this product. The price is great.
