We bought our first house just over a year ago. Charming little house built in 1910. When we inspected the house it was empty, had sat for a while and had a BASIC smell of an old house. We knew that if you lived in an old house we would have to put up with it. It will, SURPRISE, smell like garbage. We moved, aired, and the old smell became what it smells like in an ordinary old house. But the disappearance of that smell revealed something so gross I still wonder how we missed it. cat urine. CAT WET. The most pungent, disgusting smell of cat pee imaginable. We tried everything to get the smell out of a corner of our living room. Chemicals (like natural wonders and the like) on solid wood to remove odors, rip out baseboards that seemed like they might be the culprit, and a LIST of different products. Bad air sponge? Gave the best results of anything we tried. But the smell didn't go away. Every time I was in the room I would heat wax, light incense sticks and try not to breathe through my nose if for some reason I was sitting on the floor. A year later, this story has a happy ending. I bought this BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS air filter. with carbon inserts. An hour of work in tandem with my existing air filter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FBMJK9Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and the smell that had haunted my dreams for a YEAR was was finally gone. I've never loved electronics more than these. Costs. Everyone. Lonely. a penny A little about this air filter, it's not as small and not as quiet as the one I was referring to. I really like the charcoal filters in this one (I'm sure this got rid of the cat pee smell for good). This one can sit on his side which is GREAT. It's under my sofa now. Out of sight of what is beautiful because it doesn't look beautiful.
