Review on πŸ” TESmart HDMI KVM Switcher - 4K @ 60Hz UHD Support with USB 2.0 - 2 KVM Cables Included by Ron Collins

marginal at best (fixed - sort of)

Nobody seems to be able to build a decent KVM switch. This is my second (first was a cheaper brand so I "upgraded") and it basically sucks. The keyboard function in particular is poor. It randomly skips characters I'm typing, including the spacebar, and sometimes it gets stuck so the character I just typed just races across the screen. I should point out that the same keyboard plugged directly into a laptop has none of these issues, so isn't a keyboard. Even while writing this review I had to go back and put spaces between words. I'm giving it two stars as I can at least use it a little while my first one was pretty much useless. The next step seems to be brands that cost hundreds of dollars for rackmount versions. I think I'll just use the monitor toggle and live with two sets of keyboard/mouse on my desktop. Found online where someone used a powered USB hub plugged into a shared USB port on this device and then plugged a keyboard into one of those remote USB ports instead of the dedicated keyboard port on the KVM to use switches. This fixed the keyboard issues for me, but honestly it shouldn't have been the problem at all. Not sure what those custom made keyboard and mouse ports are - maybe just USB disabled or something. You would think they just use regular USB since it works on almost millions of computers to connect keyboards. Anyhow, the issue has been fixed and is now working as intended. In short, plug your keyboard into a USB hub that plugs into a shared USB port on the Switch, not the actual keyboard port.
