I was excited when the outlet extender arrived, eager to put it to use. It surprised me that it plugs into only one of the outlet receptacles. I installed it correctly and found it to be slightly unstable. When I picked up the box to discard it, the box rattled. Inside I found a small white post. I took the outlet extender off the wall and examined it again. The white post in my hand had broken cleanly off the back of the extended. Had that post been in place, it would have fit correctly into the ground slot of the 2nd outlet receptacle, thereby making the unit more stable. I emailed the company. They replied, assuring me that after proof of purchase they would replace my broken product. The replacement arrived promptly and unbroken.Regarding use of the product, I recommend device cords that are no less than 12" if you intend to plug them into the USB ports. I have a 6" apple cable that is too short to use no matter which end of the extender I put the shelf on. Better yet would be a redesign of the product, placing the USB ports in the center of the device so that cords are not so severely kinked.
