This isn't something you want to put on your heatsink to cool areas around your CPU like bear chips. It interferes with cooling more than it can help, and once the computer (laptop in my case) heats up the pads start to heat up and become obsolete. I didn't use this as a cooling pad for my CPU but for the chipsets around the CPU as I thought that was why my CPU was getting hot. In the end, a good vacuum, some isopropyl alcohol, disassembling and reassembling the fan helped solve my problem. I'm not exactly sure what else these things are good for, but for now I keep them under my laptop stand as the cooling pad pulls air in from underneath and the stands themselves are pretty cool. So you can get smart with these pads. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong, I'm not sure.
