Review on DC Men's Pure Casual Skate Shoe: Style meets Functionality by Christopher Clearfield

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not bad, but not comparable to traditional suede sneakers.

This review is for DC Men's Pure Shoes, Black/Pirate Black, 10.5 D USA. It's a sad day since the Airwalk is gone and Vans practically forgot about the suede mid-top sneakers. I wore my trusty black suede Vans to the point where I couldn't wear them anymore. Suede has really stood up to rain, heat, snow and ice. no tears, no sewn stitch. What failed was the plastic pieces in the heel, which cracked and cut into the shoe. I came across them while looking for a replacement. One answer to a question said it wasn't suede. But they're all leather, judging by the description? I was bitten by the fact that the price was under $40 after discounts. The shoes aren't terrible; Protector is the best part. However, what they call leather strikes me as more of that "leather" material that feels almost like a synthetic material with a microfiber fleece. The saddest part are the vents riveted on the sides of the shoes; They will never withstand splashing puddles. I will say that the embroidered "DC" logo is actually black and matches the shoe, although it appears lighter in the photos. However, I have chosen not to return the shoes and to keep them for myself. I immediately treated them with Rustoleum "NeverWet" for shoes and boots (I also bought this from Revain). The treatment didn't noticeably damage the look of the shoe, and I was a little aggressive with it. I'll keep them in case I need "good shoes" for anything. I will continue my search for a genuine suede replacement for my vans but I would say they are not bad for the price. although I expect them to last half as long as my vans. They simply cannot replace or imitate real hard-wearing suede.
