I just received my camera yesterday after reading all the excellent reviews and I love it. I had to charge the battery (it took an hour, but with anticipation it seemed longer) and shoot a whole bunch of frames, playing with the video, trying to learn all the buttons. not even remotely a deal breaker for me, it's more than I'm used to. I don't notice it when taking photos. Only if I pack in my old camera bag. On the advice of others, I bought a class 10 memory card. That works great. I have already uploaded a lot of pictures. It's feature rich (fisheye, mini mode, color accents) but for me that's an advantage - I'd rather have the option and hardly use it than not be able to use it at all. The battery was flashing red after 24 hours (but still) but given that I've played with it so much and wasted a lot of energy just shooting, testing and erasing coupled with the fact that I'm CHARGING and can't replace (and I bought extra batteries to have on hand), which is nowhere near a deal breaker either. The macro works great and the 'play' functions are amazing. HD videos are awesome. Haven't tried Sport or Night mode yet, but AUTO mode really wipes everything out. It even switched to macro focus on its own and I had to switch. This is a huge improvement over the auto mode I was used to on my old Canon SX100. IT'S SO GOOD IN LOW LIGHT, I HAVE NEVER USED A FLASH BEFORE! Over a year later. I still love my camera. My mom and cousin bought it too and I get compliments on my photos all the time. This battery still lasts through a day of intense shooting, and I really enjoy using some of the fun settings like color swap and toy camera mode. My only caveat is if you're like me and like taking interesting shots but aren't a pro at all and still find yourself between a point-and-shoot hybrid like this or an SLR, spend the extra cash and get SLR. I love this camera, but I've learned so much about it that I now wish I had a DSLR. I'll wait for this one to be over (hopefully in a few, few years :))
